InterContinental Music Awards Winner

2024 – Best of America | Indie Pop

Noush Like Sploosh is an interdisciplinary performing artist based in Dubai, whose craft bridges music, film, theatre, and writing. Her work has captivated audiences in Dubai, Mumbai, and Montreal. In 2023, she released her debut album, “WhimCycle”, a 10-track exploration of sound accompanied by seven self-directed and animated music videos. As a student of double bass and Hindustani voice, Noush seamlessly blends folk, blues, and jazz, creating expressive vocal layers and cinematic arrangements that defy conventional genres, likened to a punk orchestra. Her lyrics function like double exposure photographs, revealing multiple layers of story simultaneously.

Slowness and emergent creativity are central to Noush’s methodology. Reflecting on the decade-long journey of creating “WhimCycle”, she states, “The making of this album has been a study in serendipity. It has evolved over a decade since its original recording in 2013, exactly on time, as part of the greater cycle of community and craft of independent creatives in the UAE.”

A participant in NYUAD’s performing artist professional development program, Numoo, Noush completed a three-city Monsoon Tour of her album in India in July 2023. In Dubai, she performs with The Gypsy Swing Project, a gypsy jazz trio featuring Alexandre Valls and Niki Mukhi, gracing stages such as Dubai Opera and various jazz venues around the city.

Beyond her interdisciplinary practice, Noush teaches Experimental Film at the American University of Sharjah, is writing her second play, and crafts video content and sound art for galleries, private clients, and brands. Her commitment to her craft and the ingenuity of her interdisciplinary approach make her a standout artist in the contemporary arts scene.
