Genevieve Cesarano, born in 2006, is a talented singer song writer from Sydney Australia. After several years of troupe dance in her primary years (jazz, hip hop, lyrical, musical theatre), her passion for music took the lead and she pursued her journey of singing tuition, piano and song writing. She released her first original single, By Your Side on social media channels in 2020.
Genevieve decided to take her musical journey to the next level by exploring schools where she could continue her middle and senior school academic studies, alongside her love of performing arts. She was the recipient of the McDonald College Music Scholarship in 2023 (an esteemed sought after performing arts school in Australia) and the recipient of the College’s Senior School Music Award. She has been a leading solo featured artist representing the music stream of the college for several years.
Her song, Best Friend, has a symbolic meaning. Genevieve was a pillar of strength for her teenage best friend, (also a performing arts student), during a challenging time relating to the pressure of image and personal appearance that sadly developed into an eating disorder. Her friend relocated to another State for treatment which led their relationship to distance. This had a significant impact on both of them. These sentiments resonate in the lyrics of the song, “I know you’re far away, and it’s so hard, because life gets real now, this is just the start”…”it’s ok, to push me away, so you can better then maybe you’ll stay”… “Let’s just talk like we use to…I just can’t afford to lose you”… heartfelt lyrics.
Her ability to be so deeply connected to her lyrics alongside her emotional delivery, ‘hair raising’ for listeners, as they so often comment when hearing her unique tone, “I could listen to your voice all day”. Her ability to story-tell through songs, harmonies and accompanied by effortless runs leaves you in awe. As a true humble artist, she simply smiles at these warm gestures.
Currently in her final schooling year, Genevieve has achieved perfect grades for her course end music performances, including in foreign language Italian. She is excited by the opportunity to focus on sharing more of her original music with the world and committing to her future goals of a musical journey and career.
