Pure Gold is a South African R & B and Gospel group formed in Mzimhlophe, Gauteng, South Africa. Members are: 

Freddy Sthembiso Gwala (Leader), Patric Sthembiso Gwala, Gift, Patric Mbuso, Emmanuel, Lord Gwala, Mateus Moloi, Jafta Gwala, Victor Gwala, Paulos Gwala

The group is made up of lead singer Freddy Gwala, Paul Gwala and his brothers and cousins. Freddy Gwala is specifically known as a very prolific South Africa singer, who founded a few South African music groups including the Award winning Platform One. He is also known for having created the “Zumba” genre of African music, which is a fusion of soul music and disco.  This musical genre has become popular all over the world. Pure Gold musical group, under both the leadership and membership of Freddy Gwala, are known for popular releases solidifying their status in South African Gold.  They have collaborated with top South African music artists including Brenda Fassie. Their vocals echo African styles of arrangement and performance such as; powerful mbube melodies, four part harmonies which swoop and shimmer, and call-and-response styles which encompass, most African singing forms. They sing both European influenced soulful melodies and Freddy’s own sweetly accessible compositions sung in the African languages Zulu and Sotho.
