Alu started composing songs and singing in her early childhood, where older people in the village would stop and listen to her songs, and she would sing with other children from door to door on special occasions. She eventually sang in church choirs, moderated a kid’s program on Imo Broadcasting Corporation, Nigeria, and composed songs for her secondary school activities. Her unique, soulful, heart-squeezing voice has been compared to artists like Tracy Chapman, Brenda Fassie (South Africa), Miriam Makeba, Erykah Badu, Tina Turner etc. Her musical style of cultural presentation has been compared to Yemi Alade. Alu has traveled to several countries in Africa, Europe, and has resided in both Nigeria, Ghana, and the U.S.A. This experience has given her the appreciation of culture and diversity, and to see the world as a global village. Alu is multi-lingual, including French and several African languages. She is currently working on an album project as a co-producer in collaboration with and featuring several Grammy award nominated artists from North and Latin America. Through her genre of inspirational Afro-pop, Afro-beats, Gospel, she seeks to inspire a positive outlook on life, peace, love and global consciousness.
