S. J. Jananiy

Recently released RAIL Movie’s Music Director S. J. Jananiy is a National & Multi-Global- Award-Winning Film Composer, Indian Classical Vocalist, Western Classical & Playback Singer, Singer-Songwriter, Music Director, Performer, Music Producer, Record Producer, and Research Scholar with 25+ Years of experience in the field of Music.

Jananiy was bestowed with the prestigious “National Award” (Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar) in 2002 from the Government of India.

She has been bestowed with the coveted “Kalai Maamani” Award by the Government of Tamilnadu, for the year 2018.

Jananiy scored music for the Tamil Feature Film/Movie “Rail”, that was released on 21 June, 2024 for which she collaborated with the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Sofia, Bulgaria.

Jananiy is a Grammy® Voting member & a Member of the Recording Academy Producer & Engineer Wing. Jananiy is part of GRAMMY®-NOMINATED album THE FURY by Antonio Vergara in Contemporary Blues Album category.

Jananiy’s International song “I’m Flying High” hit #8 on the iTunes Alternative Music charts. Her debut English Song “Believe in You”, topped the 19th position on the Euro Indie Music Chart 2019. 

She is the recipient of many more Awards and titles including

She is an “A Grade” artist of All India Radio.

She scored Music for a Tamizh Movie “Prabha”, in which Jananiy’s Guru Padmavibhushan Late Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna rendered his final Playback Song.

Jananiy’s first performance was at her age of 5 & she has performed more than 1100 stage shows in Carnatic Classical Vocal & keyboard, Fusion, Devotional, Bhajan and light music, including Jugalbandhi with “Padmavibhushan”, and “Chevalier” Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia in Paris, France 2011.

Jananiy has 90+ Albums to her credit released through JSJ Audio label, and through various record labels, including the genres such as Carnatic Classical Vocal, Carnatic Classical Keyboard, World, Soundtrack, Trap, Blues, Devotional, Fusion, New Age, Indian Pop, Electronic Pop, and Contemporary music.

She composes music and sings for various Independent Albums, Short Films and ad Films.

In Western Classical Music, she has completed ATCL (Associate Trinity College London) in Western Classical Vocal, Grade 8 in Keyboard, Theory & Vocal from Trinity College London.

In Hindustani Classical Music, she has completed a Senior Diploma from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, India.

Jananiy is a Graduate in Economics from Stella Maris College, Chennai. She is a postgraduate in Indian Music & M.Phil Music, currently pursuing a PhD from Queen Mary’s College, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India.

Jananiy is a lifelong student of Brahmakumaris World Spiritual University.

She owns a Pro Recording Studio, “3 Dot Recording Studios”, and an Audio Label “JSJ Audio”.
